10 least reliable cars

1.Ford C-Max Energi: Half of the cars in Consumer Reports' top 10 least reliable list are from Ford, which ranked at No. 26 out of 28 brands. Reasons for low reliability scores include its MyFord Touch system, as well as reported issues with the EcoBoost engine.

2. Ford Escape: Consumer Reports especially came down hard on the MyFord Touch infotainment system, with "controls [that] are needlessly complicated." The recently redesigned Escape's reliability has been "well below average."

3. Mini Countryman: Of the 28 brands, BMW's Mini came in dead last at No. 28. Shortcomings of the more-SUV-like Countryman include frustrating controls, stiff ride and a noisy cabin.

5. Nissan Pathfinder: Of the Japanese automakers, Nissan saw the largest drop in reliability rankings, falling from No. 13 to No. 22. In spite of its "quiet and spacious" cabin, the newly redesigned SUV received a reliability ranking well below average.

6. Volkswagen Beetle: Although roomier than its predecessor, the compliant driving dynamics could "get sloppy in demanding conditions." The standard five-cylinder engine was also criticized for a "gruff and unrefined" engine note, and saw an overall fuel economy of 26 mpg with the five-speed manual. It received a "well below average" reliability score.

7. Cadillac XTS: The front-wheel-drive sedan (also available in AWD) received criticism for its CUE infotainment interface, which was "unintuitive and frustrating," and reliability that was "much below average."

8. Ford Explorer: In spite of its "steady and absorbent" ride, the SUV has been criticized for reliability that "has been well below average."
